Release Date: October 23, 2025
A first-person logic horror game, inspired by the Internet culture from the first decade of the 21st century. In oneway.exe, we end up trapped in a never-ending video game. Our main objectives are to learn about the tragic fate of the game's three creators and then escape unscathed.
The Internet culture of the first decade of the 21st century revolved around websites and forums dedicated to specific topics, animations made using Flash technology, memes, and creepypastas, which are spine-chilling stories spread across the web. Its unique specifics were attempted to be captured and recreated in an interactive form by the oneway.exe project described here. It is a horror-themed logic game from the independent American studio Disordered Media.
In oneway.exe we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).
During the game we are trapped inside an unfinished video game hidden in the UNTITLED.exe file, which falls apart before our eyes. To discover the tragic fate of its three developers, we must visit thematic rooms. Additionally, we face entities inspired by the scary stories that were once talked about on the Internet. There are also puzzles waiting to be solved.
This is not the end, as the game implements a virtual environment simulating the operating system. It allows us to interact with files and apps. Moreover, it's important to remember that our actions and choices have consequences.
The graphics of oneway.exe are kept in a dark, cartoonish retro style. Marcy Nabors (Deltarune) is responsible for the music accompanying the game.
