Maid of Sker is the first-person survival horror created by Wales Interactive studio. The physical version was released by Perp Games. This production was created as part of the Creative Europe Programme - MEDIA.
The action of the game is set in a abandoned hotel in South Wales, known as Sker House (this building really exists and is one of the most famous "haunted" places in Great Britain). The plot is inspired by Welsh folklore and concerns the so-called Quiet People.
The story is inspired by the true story of Elizabeth Williams. The player controls the musician Thomas Evans, who is drawn into a conflict whose stake is the life of his beloved woman.
Maid of Sker is a classic survival horror, presented from a first-person perspective. We try to survive and solve the mystery surrounding the mysterious events. This requires exploration, proper use of objects, and hiding from enemies with superhuman hearing. The game doesn't feature any combat, but we have some tools for distracting opponents or dragging them into a trap. Importantly, Wales Interactive's game is not linear - the story can follow one of the three paths. The developers have alos prepared several endings.
Maid of Sker offers only a single player mode.
Maid of Sker has very attractive three-dimensional graphics with a high level of realism. The game can also has a heavy atmosphere, which has been achieved, among other things, thanks to the use of immersive 3D sound system.

Hotel Sker may have seen better days, but it's well worth a visit for fans of the horror genre. The hotel is interesting to explore and rewards players who take the time to unravel its secrets. You feel constantly in danger not knowing where the next threat is going to be but knowing you can't defend yourself. No, there's nothing really new here, but that doesn't matter if you just want to sneak around a Victorian hotel where the welcome is less than inviting.

Maid of Sker has an interesting story based on the House of Sker folklore. The use of binaural sounds is extremely well done but is let down by its reliance on jump scares and repetitive sound effects. The holding your breath mechanic does help and adds an extra layer to the survival aspect.
