Overlord: Escape from Nazarick

Overlord: Escape from Nazarick is an action platform game in metroidvania format. The project is based on the license of the Overlord series of novels launched in 2010. The series has also been adapted into a manga and anime series. Game was developed by Engines studio, and the development process was supervised by the author of the original - Kugane Maruyama.

Plot

In Overlord: Escape from Nazarick we take on the role of Clementine. The powerful Ainz Ooal Gown has imprisoned the girl in the Great Tomb of Nazarick to force her to participate in his experiments. To escape, Clementine must recover her favorite weapon, forgotten magical abilities, and lost memories.

The plot of the game is delivered in such a way that it is understandable to both fans of the Overlord series and players who have not been familiar with it before.

Game mechanics

Overlord: Escape from Nazarick features side-scrolling action. Clementine begins her journey through the Great Tomb of Nazarick unarmed and stripped of her former abilities. Moving through the gloomy locations, the girl gradually regains her magical abilities, gains more and more powerful weapons (such as a dagger, a sword or a great hammer) and upgrades her already existing weapons. Thanks to this, over time she can not only get to places that were previously locked for her (for example, the protagonist will deal with the vegetation blocking her way only after she learns how to throw fireballs), but also face increasingly powerful enemies, including bosses.

Clashes are dynamic, and during them we have to not only skillfully use magic and make good use of weapons, but also show dexterity and reflexes. The reflexes are also useful during the exploration of the tomb, because it involves jumping on platforms and avoiding numerous traps set for Clementine.
