The main pros of the game

  • Visuals and Graphics: Many users praised the game's stunning graphics and beautiful landscapes, enhanced by the use of Unreal Engine 5.
  • Building System: The building mechanics were highlighted as a standout feature, allowing for creative and complex constructions.
  • Community Interaction: There is a sense of community among players, with many enjoying the social aspects of the game.
  • Potential for Growth: Some users expressed optimism about the game's potential, suggesting that it could become a great sandbox MMO if the developers address existing issues.

The main cons of the game

  • Subscription Model: A significant number of players expressed frustration with the introduction of a subscription model requiring payments to maintain plots of land, which they felt was a betrayal of the promises made during the game's initial funding.
  • Grindy Gameplay: Users reported that the crafting and leveling systems are excessively grindy, requiring vast amounts of time and resources for minimal progress.
  • Lack of Content: Many players noted a lack of engaging content, particularly in terms of quests, NPCs, and meaningful gameplay loops, leading to feelings of emptiness and stagnation.
  • Combat Mechanics: The combat system was described as simplistic and lacking depth, which detracted from the overall experience.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Quality of Life Improvements: Players pointed out the absence of basic quality-of-life features such as proximity voice chat, better inventory management, and a recycling or dismantling system for crafted items.
  • Dynamic Content: Users expressed a desire for more dynamic gameplay elements, such as varied and engaging combat, world events, and a more populated game world with NPCs.
  • Fast Travel Options: The lack of effective fast travel and the need to walk long distances were criticized, making gameplay feel tedious.
  • Rewarding Crafting System: Many players wanted a more rewarding and less grindy crafting experience, suggesting that the current system discourages solo play and requires excessive time investment.

Conclusion

    Summary

    • Overall, while Pax Dei has a solid foundation with its visual appeal and building mechanics, the introduction of a subscription model and the grind-heavy gameplay have led to significant dissatisfaction among its player base. The game is seen as having potential, but many users feel it is currently not worth the investment, especially given the lack of content and the monetization strategies employed by the developers.
