Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – another installment of the game series inspired by one of the most popular pirates, namely the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow who in the original motion picture was portrayed by Johnny Depp. Apart from him, players repeatedly get the opportunity to assume the roles of both William Turner and Elizabeth Swann.
Plot of this game was based on the events depicted in the second and third parts of the motion picture series. Naturally, the developers included in the script some of the most iconic scenes from the movies, such as the one where Jack Sparrow fights the enormous creature – Kraken, which results in the drowning of the Black Pearl, Jack’s beloved ship. During the playthrough, players can visit locations known from the movies i.e. Tortuga, Isla Cruces (the island on which Davy Jones’s heart has been buried), and the jungle inhabited by a cannibalistic tribe.
Similarly to other installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean game series, when playing the PC / Windows version of the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, one encounters lots of enemies, which have to be dealt with immediately, series of traps, subquests and minigames (i.a. poker, dice, etc.) as well as interactive cutscenes with quick time events. There are some predefined moments during the playthrough where one can choose to control other characters such as Jack Sparrow, Will, Elizabeth and Captain Barbossa. Moreover, it is possible to unlock playable characters, which may lead to somewhat amusing situations (e.g. 2 identic characters on the screen at the same time). What is also worth mentioning, all of the available protagonists feature unique skills, special attacks and finishing blows. In order to strengthen the assault on a foe one can utilize previously found objects like pistol and bombs. The licensed motion picture soundtrack accompanies the player all throughout the game.
