Prison Wars is a project of developers from Pixelate Ventures, a company from Krakow, which has titles such as Kibolgame or Imperium Ojca in its portfolio. The creators were inspired by the popular television series Prison Break, but introduced a number of references to the Polish penitentiary system.

Prison Wars takes place behind bars. Players play the roles of inmates who try to survive in a world full of gangs, violence, drugs and abuse of power guards.

However, the career of a convict is not an easy one. Players must take care of their character's development, paying particular attention to their physical vigour (strength, speed and defense factors), health and the wealth of their wallets. Experience and "szmal" can be gained by doing legal work or, which is usually much more lucrative, by undertaking various criminal acts - theft, extortion, assaults on richer players, but also trading on the black market.

Social functions allow prisoners to set up gangs, among other things. Belonging to a group introduces a number of new elements of fun, including wars and gang crimes.

Prison Wars' visual setting is kept in a minimalist style. The gameplay is based on the text-information layer, and graphic elements are very modest ornaments.

The game is available on a free-to-play basis. This means you can play Prison Wars for free. However, for players who want to speed up the process of becoming a promoter of the prison world, there are a number of conveniences offered by the micropayment system.
