Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy Description
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is the sixth installment of the popular series launched in 2007 by Professor Layton and the Curious Village. The production was developed by the Japanese studio Level 5, i.e. the same team that was responsible for all previous parts of the cycle.
The game is the culmination of a prequel trilogy, telling the story of the protagonists, which includes Professor Layton and the Last Specter and Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. At the same time it is the last title of the cycle in which the main character is Hershel Layton. In the game he and his assistants, Luke Tryton and Emmy Altava, embark on a journey to the snow-covered city of Snowrassa to explore the truth of rumours about a living mummy. On the spot they come across a girl named Aria, imprisoned in the ice, who belongs to an ancient race known as Azran. When she is released, it turns out that she suffers from amnesia, so all four of them go in search of the truth about the Azran civilisation and the treasures it has left behind.
In terms of gameplay mechanisms, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy offers similar solutions to previous games in the series. The game consists mainly in solving puzzles, exploring the location and searching for objects and hints with the use of a stylus. In accordance with the tradition of the cycle, we receive piles of ingenious puzzles, which can reliably test the cleverness of the players.
Like previous editions, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy can boast a beautiful visual setting. The game makes perfect use of the three-dimensional effect, and the graphics, although in full 3D, has an attractive cartoon style. Additionally, from time to time we are treated with animated intermittent scenes.
