Project Hospital is a strategy game developed by independent studio Oxymoron Games. The title enables the player to manage a virtual hospital. The title resembles Theme Hospital, a classic game released during the nineties by Bullfrog.

Mechanics

Project Hospital for PC is a classic strategy game about managing and expanding a medical facility. In order to succeed, the players must have high managing abilities and talent to medicine and architecture. They can decide about the design of the building, who to hire, which insurance companies to work with and the responsibilities of specific sections.

Project Hospital features one hundred realistically recreated diseases – the game goes one step further than Theme Hospital that challenged players with funny, fake illnesses. A novelty is the fact that the player is able to focus on a specific patient and manually order examinations and medical procedures. Successes will increase the reputation of the facility and provide access to better equipment.

Spiel Times: 7 / 10 by Ishan Dey

This game is not altogether a disappointment. It has its moments and even though it is lacking in several aspects, there is something sublime about it which makes me want to play it every now and then.

GameGrin: 7 / 10

For a first release, this game is very detail oriented. The sandbox is fun to play with, to relax and design with no pressure, and the campaigns have tutorials to go along with them. The campaigns can be a little intense, so be prepared!

Getting to grips with its systems and idiosyncrasies may feel confusing at first but, at its core, Project Hospital is a best-in-class medical management sim. Although not for everyone, fans of the genre with the perseverance to master its realism and complexity will find a highly rewarding simulation packaged with a set of pleasing visuals and an excellent soundtrack to boot.
