Continuation of one of the most popular fashions on the modern battlefield for Battlefield 2 - Project Reality. The creators decided to base their product on the CryEngine 3 engine and release it for free as a fully fledged game.
Project Reality 2 is a game developed by Black Sand Studios, the creators of Project Reality – one of the most popular mods for Battlefield 2. Contrary to the original, the game is a full-fledged production, available on PCs at no cost.
The game focuses on multiplayer, and does not offer any kind of single player mode aside from the tutorial. Project Reality 2 offers a few main online modes. In Advance and Secure, the players fight for key locations on the map in a fixed order. Insurgency, in turn, is based on asymmetric combat between a regular army and a guerilla militants.
The developers put an emphasis on combining realism with team play and dynamic gameplay. The players cannot perform any stunts or carry a small arsenal with them. Instead, the game mechanics force the players to cooperate closely and think quickly, rather than just rely on reflex and swift fingers.
Project Reality 2 is inspired by contemporary conflicts. The players can assume the role of soldiers from Great Britain, the United States, Germany, Russia, Israel, China and Canada. The maps are also based on real locations in Afghanistan and China, for example.
Project Reality 2 is powered by CryEngine 3. The game offers high-resolution textures, realistic animations and carefully modeled maps.
