An action RPG with a third-person camera and an open world, inspired by South Korean folklore. The pillar of the gameplay in Project TAL is dynamic battles with powerful monsters. Our character can climb the creatures, and we are assisted during combat by AI-controlled allies.
South Korean folklore is an area that has long awaited exploration by video games. Joining the productions that draw inspiration from it is Project TAL described here. The game was originally known as TAL: The Arcane Lands. It is an action RPG developed by the studio Madngine.
In Project TAL events are viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The titular TAL refers to traditional masks from South Korea, used in theater, dance, and folk rituals. The story built around them revolves around healing a fantasy land inspired by South Korean myths.
The game offers us an open world to explore. As we traverse it, we primarily engage in battles with giant monsters. The character we control can climb onto the bodies of adversaries during combat, thus reaching their weak points and dealing critical damage.
In addition, success is ensured by staying in constant motion and avoiding enemy attacks, as well as executing quick counters and skillfully using the character's abilities, which can be linked into combos.
A characteristic feature of the game is the presence of companions controlled by artificial intelligence. They are diversified in terms of combat skills, strengths and weaknesses, as well as the roles they can play on the battlefield (such as defense, support, melee or ranged combat, and magic use). They adapt their behavior to our individual fighting style, dynamically assisting us.
