A first-person shooter created by Richard Seabrooke, set in the world of Half-Life. Prospekt started as a fan-made modification that eventually, thanks to the help from Valve and the players' great interest in the game, became an independent commercial product . The story runs parallel to the events of Half-Life 2.
Prospectus is a first-person shooter released on PC, set in the Half-Life universe. The project was developed almost independently by one artist named Richard Seabrook.
The story begins in Nova Prospect, the prison we visited in Half-Life 2, and the story takes place in parallel to the events of that game. Gordon Freeman needs help, so his allies of the Vortigaunt race decide to bring Adrian Shephard, the hero of Opposing Force.
Prospectus is a traditional first-person shooter, made in the style known from the FPSs by Valve. We explore linear levels and focus mainly on fighting enemies and solving occasional puzzles.
Prospectus has a length comparable to Half-Life 2: Episode One, so it takes about two to three hours to complete it. During this time, we go through thirteen levels, which have been built using numerous new models and textures, and the old graphics have been greatly improved compared to the originals. A new interface and an upgraded lighting system have also been prepared. Combat is more challenging thanks to improved artificial intelligence.
Prospectus started as a fan mod, which is an unofficial continuation of the Opposing Force. The interest in it was so great that the author placed his work on Steam Greenlight, where within a week he received enough votes to be accepted for distribution. As a result, we were able to establish cooperation with Valve, which resulted in transforming the modification into commercial production and granting consent to the use of Half-Life licenses.
