A free-to-play third-person shooter, serving as a spin-off of the best-selling series created by Insomniac Games. Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble offers a wide range of playable characters and game modes, with arena duels.
The Ratchet & Clank series started in 2002. It was created and primarily developed by Insomniac Games. It mainly consists of action-packed 3D platformers. However, over the years, the series has also seen spin-offs representing other genres. For example, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble described here is a multiplayer shooter distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. It was developed by the French team Oh BiBi.
In Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game takes place within a simulation created by Captain Qwark, and its core is online battles in arenas featuring characters known from the Ratchet & Clank series.
The game offers us male & female characters from different eras and corners of the galaxy. They are varied in terms of appearance, preferred weapons (which we upgrade as we progress), and special abilities. During dynamic battles, we must aim accurately and avoid enemy attacks, while moving around the maps is enhanced by the ability to slide on rails.
Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble can only be played in multiplayer mode over the Internet. Available game modes include Total Rumble (classic arena combat), Blast Ball (a variation on soccer), and Bolt Rush.
The graphic design of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is maintained in a slightly comic low poly style (based on a relatively small number of polygons), which may evoke more associations with Fortnite rather than the main R&C series.
