A cozy adventure game with the action presented in a bird's eye view. In Rekindled Trails we travel the fantasy world of Aurteris. We can gather resources, trade with other people and gradually rebuild the entire land. Managing our equipment and selling resources is a minigame about filling the board with items.
The independent Swedish development team Kiwick Studios officially started operations in 2024. It took only a year since this team appeared on the industry map for them to deliver their debut work into the hands of players.
We're talking about Rekindled Trails, an adventure game that takes us to the land of Aurteris. The game allows us to explore a fantasy world in the company of a flame enclosed in a lantern. We can gradually restore its light, and consequently - its former glory. Although in general we are dealing with a cozy game, it has a hidden layer. It touches on such topics as redemption, restoring faith and hope.
In Rekindled Trails we watch the action from a bird's eye view.
The adventure leads us through various locations, including magical forests, deserts, dark mines or bustling settlements. While exploring these places, we meet their inhabitants and gather various resources. A fishing rod allows us to catch fish, a pickaxe enables us to extract natural resources, and thanks to gloves we can collect roots.
What we gather, we can allocate for trade. Equipment management and the process of selling resources are presented here in the form of a unique mini-game, in which we fill a board covered with a grid of square fields. Although while rummaging in our backpack this process is primarily used to cram a larger number of goods into it, it gains importance during bargaining with traders.
In order to secure the largest possible bonus to the final price, we need to arrange the resources we sell in such a way that they fill the shopkeeper's board to the greatest possible extent. This is not the end, because due to the fact that fields with negative modifiers appear on the board, care must be taken to ensure that they are touched by items of the lowest possible value (which will reduce the degree of transaction underestimation).
Each city has its own set of desired goods, so selling a particular product may be more profitable in one place than in another.
As we progress, we rebuild Aurteris and gain the favor of the inhabitants of this world. We also gain access to various improvements that allow us to venture deeper into the land.
