Re: Legend is a crowdfunded RPG featuring an unusual formula – the game developed by Magnus Games revolves around... catching and breeding monsters as well as expanding the village. The game resembles other titles such as Fantasy Life and Monster Rancher, as well as series like Digimon World, Pokemon, and even Harvest Moon.
The action of Re: Legend is set on the island called Vokka located in a fictional land of Ethia. The main protagonist of the game wakes up on the island and suffers from amnesia – shards of his memories are scattered all over the world, however, in order to retrieve them, he first has to gather necessary information as well as find a way to survive and handle all the encountered threats. The key to success lies in cooperating with the villagers living in Vokka. As the player develops the village, the main protagonist has more opportunities opening before him.
Re: Legend for SWITCH, PC and etc. stands out from most of RPG games in terms of its emphasis put not on combat (even though this aspect is present in the game) but on collecting and training diverse beasts and expanding the island village of Vokka. The main protagonist (who can be modified to fit player's preferences in terms of the sex, name, as well as eye and hair color) can acquire a number of useful traits, featuring fishing, building, cooking, mining, logging, tiling, and wielding a weapon.
Also important are the so-called Magnus – monsters, which one can catch on his adventures. Particular regions of Ethia are inhabited by diverse beasts, and each of them can be tamed. These creatures then aid the main protagonist throughout his adventures – in combat and agriculture. However, one should remember to take care of his creatures in order for them to grow and feel safe. This requires patience, care, and familiarity with particular species' needs.
An integral part of Re: Legend for SWITCH, PC and etc. is also the cooperative multiplayer mode, for which many in-game functionalities have been implemented. This mode can fit up to four players.
Re: Legend for SWITCH, PC and etc. delivers unique and colorful visuals resembling anime style. The audio layer of the game has been created by famous artists such as the Video Game Orchestra (who worked on the soundtrack for Final Fantasy: Kingdom Hearts), Shota Nakama (a composer known for writing the soundtrack for i.a. Final Fantasy XV), Yoshitaka Suzuki (also a composer who has in his portfolio soundtrack for installments in Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy series), and Falk Au Yeong.
