The fact that the future of the inhabitants of our planet is drawn in black has been tried to convince us many times, either by means of films or computer games. In Robinson's Requiem - a product of the well-known French company Silmarils - it is similar. If nothing is done, the civilisational gains that were to serve humanity will contribute to its destruction. Depleted mineral resources, a deepening baby boom and, above all, huge pollution, do not contribute to decent living conditions on Earth. But there is always some hope, e.g. an attempt to settle on another planet.

In Robinson's Requiem, the player takes on the role of an employee of the military organization Alien World Exploration, which sends its wards to various planets to collect as much information about them as possible. The data will be used for the next stage of space expansion, which is the establishment of colonies. As the title Robinson, you and your companions set off to one of the hitherto unexplored arrangements called Zaratustra. Unfortunately, a vehicle that is supposed to bring you safely to your destination crashes and then crashes on the planet's surface. A part of the crew dies in an accident and you, as the only survivor, decide to carry out at least a part of your mission.

Robinson's Requiem is an exceptional game in many respects and it is difficult to qualify it for one of the genres. At first glance, it reminds us of the traditional RPGs that Silmarils has created in the past. It's only during the game that it turns out that the game is closer to a simulation - more precisely a human simulation, in which Robinson, exposed to severe tests, has to survive in a completely alien environment.

In the game we move with the keys of cursors, or a plate with marked directions (similar to other RPGs). The action is observed from the perspective of the first person. The rotation is smooth, though certainly not as perfect as in Doom. In addition to walking, you can also run and crawl, which will have a significant impact on our actions. From the very beginning, the player is in a lost position and is only dependent on his or her own strength. If he does not get food - he will die, if he does not take liquids - he will die, if he does not take care of proper clothes for the prevailing external conditions - he will die, if he does not control the infection in time and does not treat wounds with the help of found medicines.... shall be killed. The complexity of the whole life process is best evidenced by the fact that if a gangrene enters, the limb can be amputated. When you have to, it must.

The game is realistic to the point of pain. You have to devote a lot of effort to hunt the game, including creeping up and waiting for the right moment. Just like in life, Robinson's Requiem places great emphasis on the type of food supplied to the body. In this game you can get as much weight as you can get rid of the exhaustion caused by hunger. Of course, you should also try to get enough shelter, fire and objects that you do not have with you. What a huntsman, if he does not construct a bow himself, or with the help of a needle, thread and tiger skin, will not prepare suitable clothing to survive the cold. As if that wasn't enough, apart from providing a basic means of subsistence, we still have to explore the surrounding area and write down our insights to a computer located on the stomach.

Robinson's Requiem is a product only for demanding players. Fans of ordinary RPGs will not find anything for themselves. If we fight, it is not for experience points, but for survival and gaining food. If we wander through inhospitable terrain, it is only for exploration purposes. Admittedly, in a later phase of the game there is a mysterious organization that prevents us from getting out of the planet, but in fact Robinson's Requiem is about completely different goals. The visual setting, as usual with Silmarils, is very good, but the sound is limited to the sounds of nature, which is understandable in a way. To sum up, this is an excellent product, but it will be appreciated only by those who need a real "life" challenge.
