Savage: The Shard of Gosen is a platformer with RPG and adventure elements. During gameplay, we explore a gloomy fantasy world, complete quests, develop our character, solve puzzles, and fight enemies with an extensive combat system.

The title takes us to a gloomy, fantasy world called Lor. We assume the role of a powerful barbarian who takes up the challenge of defeating the warlord Aben Bael. He wants to claim the throne of the ruined Argeshii empire. To achieve it, he is trying to bring back to life an ancient god who will restore his glory and grant him the power necessary for taking control over the realm.
This is an action title mixing many elements from other genres. The 3D, open world can be freely explored, and once we discover all important locations, the game turns into a 2D platformer.
The authors introduce extensive gameplay mechanics. Combat is difficult – we need to make use of a shield, take advantage of the environment, and display good timing skills in order to find weak spots of enemies’ defence.
We can create items thanks to the crafting mechanics, upgrade equipment, and teach the hero new skills. During gameplay, we also come across puzzles and deadly bosses. Additionally, the title offers dialogues and a day and night system that dictates which quests we can take and what creatures we can fight.
The visuals of Savage: The Shard of Gosen feature large pixels in a retro style inspired by 16-bit productions.
