Release Date: cancelled
Scarface: Empire was the never-published sequel to Scarface: The World is Yours (2006). This title was intended to allow us to once again play as Tony Montana. The plan for this game was for us to travel to Las Vegas to build our own drug and casino business in the City of Sin.
In 2006, Radical Entertainment studio and Sierra released Scarface: The World is Yours, an open-world action game based on the Scarface movie license and serving as its sequel. The production was both an artistic and commercial success, leading to the decision to develop a sequel. However, the game titled Scarface: Empire was ultimately canceled following the merger of Vivendi Universal and Activision.
Scarface: Empire was intended to follow the path set by Scarface: The World is Yours. During the game the action would be viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP), and we would have a chance to explore an open world.
This time, we would find themselves in Las Vegas, where, as the well-known character Tony Montana, we would build our drug empire from scratch, using casinos under our control as a front. Naturally, the game would include the ability to recruit crew members and engage in gangster showdowns in the form of spectacular shootouts and thrilling chases. We were supposed to navigate Vegas on foot or behind the wheel of various vehicles.
Interestingly, the developers planned for the surrounding desert to have its purpose. Its sands could be used to hide the bodies of defeated enemies (including mafia bosses), and the wastelands would serve as a good location for receiving shipments of "goods" intended for trade.
Scarface: Empire was supposed to operate on a modified engine that powered the first part of the series.
