Release Date: March 26, 2026
An arcade racing game, serving as a reincarnation of the original Screamer back from 1995. Milestone studio is once again behind the development. This new version of Screamer puts focus on street competition between drivers. The story in the game is presented by anime-like cut-scenes from the Japanese Polygon Pictures studio.
The original Screamer from 1995 represented the genre of arcade racing games, somewhat reminiscent of The Need for Speed or the Ridge Racer series. The series then turned towards rallies for the next two entries, and its fourth instalment, Screamer 4x4 released in 2000, was an off-road driving simulation. The first three games were the work of the Italian studio Milestone. The same developer brought the brand back to life over a quarter of a century later, creating its reboot in a new formula, simply titled Screamer.
Similar to the original, Screamer focuses on sports cars, which race on asphalt roads (in this case city streets) at dizzying speeds. This time the emphasis is on battles between drivers using "combat" gameplay mechanics.
Another distinguishing feature of the Screamer reboot is its in-depth storyline, showing the fates of a number of characters (one of them played by famous voice actor Troy Baker) who take part in a street racing tournament in the near future. The story incorporates themes of love, revenge, and greed. It is illustrated by cut-scenes prepared by the Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures, inspired by manga and anime from the 1980s and 1990s.
In addition to the single-player story mode, Screamer offers multiplayer gameplay via the Internet or on a split screen.

Life is Xbox: 83 / 100
A slick, energetic racer that hits hard and keeps you coming back for more. Screamer is a bold and stylish arcade racer that delivers fast action, great presentation and a surprising amount of depth. The mix of single player modes, online options and generous accessibility features makes it easy to enjoy, and the anime inspired world gives it a personality that stands out. There are some rough edges, especially with the controls and difficulty spikes, but the overall experience is exciting, energetic and packed with content. If you are looking for a fresh arcade racer with plenty to offer, Screamer is well worth your time.
Gamer Escape: 9 / 10 by Grant Dotter
While it slightly suffers from a few odd decisions about its default control scheme and the direction of the voice acting (though the acting itself is top shelf), you’ll definitely find the adrenaline rush you might be craving in Screamer. It absolutely oozes quality in almost all aspects. If Mario Kart is too silly and Forza is too serious, this might just be the perfect in-between for you.
Gamer Social Club: 9 / 10 by Dan Jackson
With one of the best campaigns you will ever see in a racing game and a great arcade style of racing, Screamer is one the best racing games we’ve seen this generation. Its flashy artstyle is great to look at and while there is a lot going on with it’s gameplay, once you get a grasp of it, you will wonder why more don’t do dual stick racing.
