The plot of the game revolves around the theme of the paranormal abilities that one of the title characters has discovered in himself and which draw the attention of the galactic gorilla Skunk'apa. The game abounds in puzzles, searching for various objects and conversations with independent heroes. The whole is maintained in a humorous, cartoon convention.

Adventure canceled

Sam & Max Freelance Police is a continuation of the adventure game Sam & Max Hit the Road released in 1993. Development of the title was done by LucasArts studio. The creators decided to remain faithful to the original sense of humour and surrealistic visual stylistics of the original, while implementing 3D graphics. Work on the game was suspended in 2004.
