Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is an FPS consisting of the original versions of Serious Sam: The First Encounter and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, enriched with a number of absent elements. The production is the result of cooperation between an independent studio Alligator Pit and Croteam, which is responsible for the brand, and its release was handled by Devolver Digital.

Plot

In Serious Sam Classics: Revolution, players take on the role of the title character, who is the best soldier in the Special Forces. The protagonist is taken back to the past (to be precise - to ancient Egypt) in order to eliminate in advance the still weak opponent in the form of Tah-Uma, an ancient evil destroying the civilizations encountered under the command of the sinister Mental, which in the distant future will threaten the Earth. Later, Sam is also sent to other parts of the world, such as Central America from the Mayan era, Persia and finally medieval Europe.

Mechanics

In Serious Sam Classics: Revolution we observe the action from the first person perspective (FPP). Throughout the extensive stages, we deal primarily with fighting hordes of opponents, among which we can find cannons in the form of skeletons or headless kamikaze, as well as more demanding opponents acting as bosses, the likes of a giant miniotaur. The authors provide us with an extensive arsenal - adversaries are sent to the sand by means of the irreplaceable Colt and Thompson machine gun, as well as using a mechanical saw, shotgun or rocket launcher. In addition, the numerous levels are full of secrets waiting to be discovered.

Against the background of the originals, the title stands out due to its new opponents, eight previously unavailable stages and additional murder tools such as Plasmagun and Minelayer.

Game modes

The pillar of Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is a feature campaign; in addition, a special survival module is waiting to be tested. You can play both alone and in the company of others (via the Internet or on a split screen) - in the game you will find a mode of cooperation and gameplay options based on competition, such as Deathmatch and Scorematch or completely new modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Control Zone. In addition, the authors have implemented here a powerful editor that allows you to create mods.

Technical aspects

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is based on the first version of Serious Engine technology. However, the engine has been enriched with new features and adapted to operate in a 64-bit environment, so that the graphics of this production does not "lose the mouse" as much as it might seem more than eighteen years after the release of the first installment of the cycle.
