Although cosmic cataclysms can pose a real danger to life on Earth, some of them can be used to humanity's advantage. Such an assumption was made by the developers from Neon Machine, creating a network shooter titled Shrapnel, in which we play as operators collecting an element called Sigma, spread as a result of an asteroid hitting the Moon and bombarding the Blue Planet with glowing debris. The discussed item is available in a free-to-play model with micropayments.
In Shrapnel, the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The pillar of the gameplay is skirmishes, in which two teams of four players face each other. The battleground is the strike zone, and during the battles the main goal for the competing teams is to collect a certain amount of Sigma. Its source is meteorites falling on the surface, which can threaten us if we get too close to the impact zone.
Sigma is not only a raw material, but also an important element of gameplay. By accumulating it and depositing it, we gain access to increasingly powerful skills, and lose them when our supplies are stolen by enemies. For this reason, the key to success is not only to have an accurate eye and avoid enemy fire, but also to develop tactics that include plundering the enemy's resources and protecting your own.
When collecting Sigma, one must also be on guard because carrying too much of it leaves behind green trails that lead opponents directly to us. So we have to decide whether we expose ourselves to adversaries in exchange for more powerful abilities, or become invisible, relying on weaker skills and classic weaponry.
The game puts at our disposal operators with different combat skills (unlocked and upgraded thanks to Sigma) and roles on the battlefield. They specialize in reconnaissance, defense, obstruction of enemies or mobility, and we develop them as we progress. If we fall on the battlefield, we can be reborn, changing operators along the way (if we wish to do so).
The pillar of the Shrapnel game is the Stockpile module, in which our task is to collect 300 gravity kilograms of Sigma and transport them to your Grav-Sync. The locations of the latter change, forcing flexibility and the need for quick tactical decisions.
Shrapnel uses blockchain technology. The SHRAP token created for this production provides a medium of exchange in its ecosystem, and with its help players can monetize the content they create. In addition, the solution in question provides users with actual ownership of items, skins and other elements.
