SilverQuest: Gaiden is an oldskul stand-alone game, representing the roguelike genre. A characteristic feature of Wolfgame's production is the graphic design, modelled on the style used in eighties video games. The title offers a randomly generated world, so that each approach to play is unique, different from the previous ones.
SilverQuest: Gaiden is an independent roguelike game by a small studio Wolfgame, which is known for other niche positions, including: Golden Nights, Magic Planet Snack Deluxe or Silverquest.
The title does not have a plot line - the player simply plays a knight who traverses a randomly generated world, and his task is to survive in this inhospitable place for as long as possible.
The game in SilverQuest: Gaiden, just like the style of the game, is based on old-school rules - each inclusion of production involves generating a new world, in which players are waiting for new tasks, enemies and weapons. At the beginning of the adventure we create our character, choosing from among several standard classes. We had at our disposal, among others, a warrior, a hunter, a monk, a barbarian and a magician. Each heros is described by several statistics (strength, defense, magic), which can be developed by defeating enemies and thus gaining experience. Then we give it a name, decide how it will look like (I can choose from a couple of ready-made characters, it is impossible to modify the apparations) and set off to battle.
The gameplay is about exploring the world and fighting against encountered creatures. The latter is very simple and is based on pressing the right button on the keyboard, which does not require great skill or tactical approach. During the journey we often come across doors that cannot be opened without the right key. In order to do this, you have to defeat a specific opponent, or simply find an object that allows you to go further. During the journey we find chests full of various treasures, including new weaponry. From time to time the game is diversified with mini games, where we can, for example, fish.
The most characteristic element of the game is the graphic design. The action is observed from above, and the whole was created in 2D technology in just a few colors (the dominant colors are black and white).
SilverQuest: Gaiden was available for several months in alpha version, which was updated from time to time, adding new gameplay elements. The title is only available in digital distribution.
