Simon does not have an easy life in the real world. In the distant magic world he was an acclaimed hero, but in his own real life hardly anything works out the way he wants. He can't even win a fussy fight over the TV programme against his younger brother. A flying remote control sends him to sleep against his will.
In his dream he encounters a well-known young lady. It is Alix, the granddaughter of the wizard Calypso, who first called Simon to the magic world some time ago. Alix reports that the distant dimension is in great danger and that he would be needed to save the inhabitants from evil forces.
Simon does not think twice, fuels his magical wardrobe with an energy drink and starts his voyage to the magic world.
On arrival, Simon does not notice any changes. Yet it is strange that everybody seems to know him very well and that people keep reminding him of favours he allegedly promised to do them the day before. Do they mistake him for somebody else? Simon soon tries to clear up the confusion.
Then he meets Alix. She cannot remember having asked him for his help in a vision and breaks off her relationship with Simon. She regards him as a hopeless square-head and a prig and walks away. Our hero is a little bit surprised: Wouldn't he remember if he had had a relationship with beautiful Alix? And what does it reveal about his deodorant if girls walk out on him before they even start a relationship? After some arguing with a part-time governess, listening to the high-flying business ideas of a bridge troll and meeting Little Red Riding Hood with her snappish sidekick, he takes up the trail of the malefactor which leads him directly into the gloomiest areas of the city.
As Simon enters a dark alley he can't believe his eyes: he stands there facing himself. But he has no chance to discuss the theft of his identity with his doppelganger, as the latter orders the guards to send Simon to prison immediately for some alleged crimes.
This is only the beginning of Simon's crazy adventure including the infamous assassination of a king, a new swamp soup recipe, muddled up fairy tales and depressive chicken - not an easy task for a hero, even if chaos happens ...
