Skellboy is an action RPG developed by a small, independent Umaiki Games studio. In comparison to other representatives of the genre, the production stands out thanks to its original graphic design and mechanics allowing for the use of body parts of the defeated enemies.
Skellboy takes us to the fantastic Cubold Kingdom, whose inhabitants enjoyed life in peace and prosperity. The situation changed dramatically when the princess rejected the courtship of the court mage. In an act of vengeance, the wizard decided to resurrect the dead, and with them all the monsters once slaughtered by fearless heroes who quickly conquered the kingdom. Unfortunately for him, Skippy, the legendary hero (or rather his square skeleton), has also returned to life. He is the only one who can deal with the threat and restore the old order and order in the land.
In Skellboy we observe the action from top-down view. Travelling through various locations like the castle, picturesque countryside and gloomy dungeons, we face hordes of enemies. All kinds of monsters stand in our way, among which we can find both powerful monsters acting as bosses and "cannon fodder", the defeat of which is not a big problem for Skippy.
Enemies are eliminated by using five types of white weapons, and the parts of the body that we deprive of them can be attached to the body of our hero; this is important because each of these provides him with a variety of bonuses, the skilful use of which is the key to success.
Although Skellboy's graphic design is three-dimensional, its individual elements are flat, imitating two-dimensionality. The retro style is complemented by a chiptune soundtrack accompanying the game.
