A 2D platformer metroidvania, set in a fantasy world taking inspirations from the Slavic mythology. Slavania has us play a hero equipped with a spear used both for combat and exploration. Bosses were prepared in a unique way, because they hunt us instead of staying in one spot.

Slavania is a 2D metroidvania platformer. The game is the debut project of the independent studio FrostLeaf Games.

Plot

The action takes place in the titular fantasy land, inspired by Slavic mythology, which has been tormented by various monsters for some time. Our hero is humanity's last hope and he's equipped with a powerful magical spear.

Mechanics

The basic mechanics of Slavania are typical of platformers. During the game, we traverse two-dimensional maps, avoid traps, fight enemies, and collect items. As befits a metroidvania type production, initially many places are inaccessible and we can only reach them after unlocking various upgrades.

The game puts a lot of emphasis on combat. The spear not only serves us for attacks, but also increases the character's mobility (e.g. you can stick it into the wall and jump on it). As we progress in the game, we get the opportunity to equip this artifact with various additional powers, useful both during battles and exploration.

The game offers over forty types of enemies. Most of them have unique weaknesses that we can discover by finding old manuscripts (as well as conducting our own observations). An unusual element of the game is that the bosses do not wait in a designated place until we reach them - instead, they hunt us within their domain.
