Song of the Prairie PC

Song of the Prairie is an open world farming RPG, in which we run our own farm in a fantasy land. It was developed by the independent The Droplet Studio and published by AOE Plus. The game also went through a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

Plot

Song of the Prairie is set in a fantasy world, more specifically - at the titular Prairie, where life is good and peaceful thanks to the blessing of the Goddess. We play as a hero, who, after defeating the forces of evil, decides to settle down and create a farm of their own.

Mechanics

Song of the Prairie makes use of the third-person perspective (TPP). Our overarching task is running a farm. We can cultivate the land and plant various crops; before harvesting, though, we must take care of them, frequently weeding and watering them. We can also breed various animals; curiously, each has supernatural abilities we can use.

As we progress through the game we acquire cosmetics, which can be used to customize our character's appearance. There are also many objects and decorations we can place on our farm - from street lamps to beautiful gazebos. The local town features plenty of buildings we can upgrade and modify.

It all doesn't stop there, as the game world is filled with quests and people to meet. Though the world isn't too densely populated, each NPC has a unique appearance and their own personality. If we're lucky (and successful during dates), we can even find a love interest.

Technical aspects

Song of the Prairie makes use of a simple, yet colorful and easily readable cartoonish artstyle. The game features a realistic plant growth system.
