Adventure | TPP | indie games

Sopa is an adventure game inspired by the works of Japanese mangaka - Hayao Miyazaki, creations of Studio Ghibli, and the novel The Little Prince. It was developed by an independent team StudioBando.

Plot

The main character of the game Sopa is Miho. When his grandmother needs a potato for a soup she is cooking, the boy goes to the pantry and gets sucked into a fantastic, oneiric world. In order to get out, he has to follow the footsteps of a mysterious traveler who got there before him. The situation repeats itself over and over again. Interestingly, when Miho returns to the kitchen with more ingredients, each time he is a little taller than before, and his grandmother is a little older.

Although the theme of the game is passing, and adult players will find an emotional message in it, the story is spiced up with a solid dose of humor, which should also appeal to younger viewers.

Game mechanics

In Sopa we observe the action from the third person perspective (TPP). We travel through picturesque locations, among which we can find vast deserts and huge mountains, reaching above the clouds. Exploring them, we meet their inhabitants, perform various tasks (apart from the missions pushing the plot forward there are side quests waiting for completion) and solve numerous puzzles. From time to time we also have to show reflexes and dexterity, because QTEs have been implemented in the game.

Technical aspects

Graphics of Sopa is in an interesting style, referring to the movies of Studio Ghibli and animated films by Disney and Pixar.
