Mechanics

A player observes the action from the top-down perspective. The game is divided into a number short missions, during which, apart from completing the main objectives (such as defending a given location on the map or hacking different devices), a player eliminates entire hordes of different adversaries – these include both minor enemies and the much more powerful bosses. Luckily, the main protagonist is not unarmed – a player gets at his disposal a wide range of firearms, which can be expanded throughout one's adventure. The aforementioned RPG elements include both character development (by improving the weapons and armor) and upgrading main protagonists combat abilities. Moreover, a player can expand their base, from which the character sets off onto consecutive missions.

Interestingly enough, particular missions are procedurally generated, which increases the replayability of the game. Moreover, the game also delivers special challenges, global events and online ranking boards allowing players to compare their scores.

Technical aspects

Apart from its simplicity, 2D visuals featured in the AND and iOS release of Space Pioneer are bound to satisfy a player - all thanks to the original cartoonish style and numerous colorful elements of the environment.
