The Expanse and Mount & Blade are works that have inspired a number of projects. Although their combination may seem rather exotic (the former is a science fiction novel, while the latter is set in medieval realities), an independent studio, Spacezero Interactive, has decided to take such a step. The fruit of this idea is Spacefleet: Heat Death, a tactical RPG, ultimately intended to be a kind of introduction to a production of a much larger caliber, namely Spacefleet: Sol.
Spacefleet: Heat Death takes us to the 23rd century, in which the Earth has been plunged into conflicts between states, megacorporations and paramilitary organizations. We, on the other hand, take on the role of a character who is trying to make a new brand for himself in orbit, orbiting between the Blue Planet and the Moon, as well as around the Lagrange points of the entire system (where gravitational influences r? balance each other, allowing objects to maintain fixed positions).
We have to decide for ourselves what brand it will be, as the game allows you to become both traders (skillfully using the law of supply and demand that drives the local market), as well as bounty hunters or fleet commanders. By completing successive orders, we gradually climb the career ladder and accumulate the means for development. Although we start with a modest ship, over time we replace it with more and more advanced units, consequently becoming the head of a squadron (or several).
Regardless of the path taken, there is no shortage of opportunities to fight enemies. When it comes to clashes, you need to properly position your ship and maneuver it in such a way as to be able to fire effectively, while at the same time making this task more difficult for the adversary. On the battlefield, we use lasers, electromagnetic cannons and rockets, among others.
The matter is complicated by the fact that , as the title suggests, the ship can overheat. In order to avoid the thermal death of the title, it is necessary to manage the temperature of individual components, avoiding at all costs their melting.
Ships are composed of modules, the loss of which deprives them of access to certain functions. A destroyed propulsion system makes a vessel an easy target, a ship without a crew module is unable to execute orders, while the absence of a cooler is a simple path to fire.
