Action, FPP, Shooters, Singleplayer

A sequel to Wolfenstein 3D, a popular shooter developed by id Software. Spear of Destiny was released in 1992, soon after the debut of the first game in the series. Because of that, the gameplay mechanics of both titles are very similar. Once again the player assumes the role of William B.J. Blazkowicz, an American Special Forces commando sent to Nazi Germany.

The American commando with Polish roots comes back. This time B.J. Blazkowicz must reclaim the legendary Spear of Destiny which Nazis moved from Versailles and placed in an inaccessible stronghold during the beginning of World War II. Hitler believes that the artifact gives inhuman power and that it will help his armies conquer the world.

Wolfenstein 3D has proven to be a title popular enough for the directors of id Software to decide to release its official sequel. FormGen was given the task of creating the new installment in the series. Despite the fact that the developers did not revolutionized the game engine, that they created less than twenty maps and that they added only a few new opponents, in the end the game was much more interesting than its predecessor. A few factors impacted that outcome. Most of all, this time the game wasn’t split into episodes – in Spear of Destiny for PC the players embark on a single, long mission at the end of which Adolf Hitler himself awaits. Levels are filled with great number of treasures, secret locations and other attractions making the exploration much more interesting. Once in every while a unique boss appears. Since he usually has a key required for opening closed door, killing him is required for completing the game. The game utilizes all the textures from the original game, but a few dozen of new ones were introduced as well. Thanks to that locations don’t bore after a while.
