In 1988, The Bitmap Brothers studio released Speedball, an action-sports game project dedicated to a futuristic and violent variation on the theme of soccer. Two years later it received a sequel in the form of Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, which has received a number of re-releases and refreshed versions over the years. Over time, the rights to the brand were acquired by the British studio Rebellion, which decided to resurrect it by creating its reboot, the Speedball game described here.

Gameplay

In Speedball the action is viewed from a bird's eye view. The production takes us to the year 2138 and allows us to take part in six-minute matches, in which two teams of six players face each other. Their task is to score points by throwing balls into goals defended by goalkeepers. In addition, points are awarded for throwing through special hoops or illuminating stars located on the sides of the arenas. All this is done to keep people entertained and distract them from the problems facing the world.
