Star Trek: Judgment Rites is an adventure game set in a universe known from the original, first series of Star Trek, aired on American television in the 1960s. The production is a sequel to the 1992 Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, prepared by Interplay to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series.
In the game we play the commander of USS Enterprise - captain James Kirk, whose crew during constant interstellar travels takes part in another extraordinary adventures. The plot of the game is divided into eight episodes, which, with the exception of the last two, are not related to each other in terms of plot. In subsequent missions we discover new races, investigate the causes of the mysterious disappearance of the Federation's ships, save friends from oppression or stop star terrorists attacking the museum. We will also face the World War I three-plane Fokker and the powerful cruiser Klingons.
Like Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, the game is a classic point-and-click adventure developed with elements of combat in space, where we command the entire ship, taking care of task assignment, power allocation and damage repair. Unlike the original, action sequences have a regulated level of difficulty, and can be completely omitted by focusing on the purely adventure aspect. The game uses the engine of its predecessor, although the graphic design has been significantly improved and detailed. In the CD version, players also receive numerous film interludes, sound and music from the series, as well as digitized dialogues performed by the original cast.
