Dune Release Date PC
Mixture of adventure and strategy from Cryo Interactive and Virgin Interactive. The plot of the game is based directly on Frank Herbert's famous novel Dune. The player takes on the role of a young Paul Atride. The action begins when Paul arrives on the planet Arrakis, managed by his father, Prince Leto - the only source of precious substance in the universe, called Spice. Shortly afterwards, the cruel and treacherous Harkonnen take over power on the planet, kill Paul's father and all the people devoted to him, and he manages to escape with his own life. He meets the indigenous inhabitants of the planet Fremen, after which he must unite them (the people are divided into different factions) and lead them against the hated Harkonnenes. The game has a very interesting structure. Initially we are dealing only with the adventure aspect of this production, i.e. we follow a linear plot, we talk to the encountered Fremens, uniting them and learning more and more about their planet, culture and beliefs. At one point, when we unite the Fremen, the strategic aspect of the game reveals itself, i.e. we are waging a war with the Harkonnen's troops. We see the planet's strategic map, recruit troops, send them into battle, direct the harvesters collecting spices and develop vegetation on the planet's surface. To sum up, for its time it was an extraordinary game, with an unusual structure, with a very nice graphics VGA.
