The Battle of Yavin is a space shooter, reminiscent in many ways of a former Vektor Graphics product called Star Wars. The player will play the role of Luke Skywalker, who, piloting the X-Wing fighter, will take part in the title battle for Yavin, aimed at protecting the Rebelia base and destroying the Death Star.

The game is divided into six consecutive stages, in which our main task is to exterminate the indicated goals. Initially it will be hundreds of TIE fighters, then the action moves to the surface of the Death Star, where radar stations will be attacked. The game is crowned by the famous flight in the "duct", the aim of which is to precisely hit the ventilation shaft with proton torpedoes. The key aspect of the game are the winged players who take part in the fight together with us. Initially, there are thirty of them, but this number will gradually decrease if the Empire fleet begins to tip the scales of victory to its advantage. The help of your companions is absolutely essential if you dream of completing the game. The worst possible scenario is to stay alone on the battlefield and condemn yourself to a massive enemy attack. In such a case, neither the energy supply nor additional "life" will help.

The game takes advantage of the TrueVision3D engine and although it certainly does not match the latest LucasArts proposals in terms of graphics, it still makes a pleasant impression. The great advantage of the program is the huge number of objects that will take part in the battle. Thirty ships in Rebelia have at least three times as many TIE fighters, not to mention Star Destroyers. Thanks to this, the author managed to capture the unique atmosphere of a cosmic battle, the events of which take place at a very fast pace. John Williams' music, which has been adapted to the program in the form of mp3 files, adds a specific atmosphere.
