You play a cat named Alex, who has to find his five siblings on a mysterious island, and find a way to travel back home. You have to complete small 2D levels by fighting enemies and avoiding various dangers.
Super Cat Bros. (known as Super Cat Tales on iOS) is a two-dimensional platform game. The title uses a free to play model with microtransactions and was developed by the Italian studio Neutronized.
The devs drew inspiration from old-school platforms and that is why they did not bother with preparing an elaborate story layer. The game tells the story of a cat named Alex, who has to find five siblings on a mysterious island and then find a way to return home together. The scenario is only a pretext for the game and does not play any important role.
Super Cat Bros. is a rather typical mobile platformer. While playing, we have to complete small two-dimensional maps, fighting enemies and getting past various dangers. The levels are short - it takes a few minutes to complete them. However, the level of difficulty is high, so we often need many attempts to reach the finish line.
The game offers a rather unusual controls system based on simple gestures. Touching the left or right side of the screen initiates movement in that direction. A double-tap activates a short sprint, and if we do this on the edge of the platform, the cat will jump. In addition, when the furball reaches a wall, it will automatically start climbing it, and touching the other side of the screen in such a situation has the animal to jump down.
The fact that each cat has its own unique characteristics makes the game even more interesting. Many maps are initially impossible to complete; they can only be completed once the right character has been found. For example, some levels may have underwater sections that can only be handled by a cat who can swim. In addition, during the game, we collect ringtones that play the role of virtual currency. It enables us to buy items and recruit helpers, who then help you overcome more difficult levels.
Super Cat Bros. features a retro style. The devs were inspired by 16-bit platformers, so the visuals are full of bright colors and large pixels.
