Super Mutant Alien Assault is a platform shooter developed by the independent studio Cybernate. The main source of inspiration for the authors were iconic game from arcade machines, as well as 2010 Super Crate Box.
The story of Super Mutant Alien Assault begins when a spacecraft takes off from Earth, conquered by the title aliens, to carry the last surviving humans. The invaders go after them in pursuit, so the robots guarding the survivors have to face them and save humanity from final destruction.
In Super Mutant Alien Assault, the action is shown from the side. The game is divided into stages, each of which is contained within a single screen. At each level, we have various missions to perform, which most often boil down to the elimination of everything that stands in our way. Of course, our opponents respond in kind, and if we want to escape with our life, we have to stay in motion and avoid their attacks. The pace of the game intensified by the fact that with time adversaries transform into their more powerful versions, which makes it worthwhile to kill them quickly.
We deal with hordes of enemies using a wide range of firearms, explosives, special skills and perks to give us an advantage on the battlefield. Before we can make use of them, however, we need to get them first, which is made difficult by the fact that the levels are generated procedurally - after each start, the game changes not only their appearance and layout, but also the location of opponents and equipment scattered on the maps.
Super Mutant Alien Assault can be playedsolo or in the company of another person, in local co-op mode (except for the PlayStation Vita version).
Super Mutant Alien Assault features colorful two-dimensional pixel-art graphics. The game is accompanied by a fast dubstep soundtrack.
