A two-dimensional action game with designs resembling old cartoon movies, which is a debut production of StudioMDHR, an independent developer. In Cuphead, we assume the role of a gambling addict that loses his soul to the devil during one of his sessions. To retrieve it, he needs to work off its equivalent. When it comes to mechanics, the game is a 2D fighting game with a degree of platforming elements – we participate in continuous 1v1 fights, taking place on special 2D arenas. During combat we can make use of a wide range of weaponry, as well as several outfits bestowing us with special powers. Each of the enemies has his own fighting style, which needs to be countered in order for us to win. In opposition to the genre classics, our enemies are controlled by dynamic AI, making the game tough to beat and less predictable in case of replays.

An oldschool shooter inspired by arcade classics. Sky Force Reloaded was produced by Polish studio Infinite Dreams, the creators of the two previous installments in the series: Sky Force from 2004 and Sky Force from 2014. In the game the player controls a fighter jet which automatically flies in one direction (towards the top of the screen). Player is tasked with shooting down incoming enemy units and avoiding being hit or crashing into obstacles. It is a good idea to collect various bonuses which provide temporary power-ups and allows you to equip the vehicle with better weapons. In addition to regular enemy aircraft the player will face powerful bosses, encounters with which will require good reflexes and dexterity. Another attraction are the optional missions, during which one must save civilians. These missions are very risky but completing them grants exceptional awards. Sky Force Reloaded offers many varied levels and colorful special effects which enrich the graphics of the game.

Developed by an independent studio called Exor, X-Morph: Defense is an original twin-stick shooter with tower defense elements. The game shows an unpleasant vision of the future, in which the Earth has fallen victim to an alien invasion. Instead of defending the Blue Planet, the player assumes control over an Alien ship with an objective to face waves of human adversaries and defend enormous devices extracting resources and altering the Earth’s atmosphere. In X-Morph: Defense, the player observes the action from the top-down perspective, controls the aforementioned spacecraft, and erects defensive structures such as watchtowers - highly effective against particular adversaries. During the combat, the alien ship can assume four different forms, each one designed for dealing with a specific type of threats. To fight the enemies, the player can use the destroyable environment by e.g. collapsing a skyscraper to bar the way. The player can invade the Earth either alone or with another player in the cooperative mode.

The player assumes control over a small vessel that is tasked with the elimination of hordes of enemies that appear along the way. The gameplay of the new edition is almost identical to its predecessor, offering a two-dimensional side-scrolling experience seen from a top-down perspective. The action has a considerable pace, with simultaneous attack and evasive maneuvers requiring a good deal of dexterity. When it comes to novelties, Jamestown Plus contains a number of updates and fixes, as well as new ship models with unique armament and special abilities. Moreover, the authors introduced a new chapter of the story which concludes the events seen in the original game.

The fifth official installment in a series of classic, scrolling top-down shooters. Raiden V was created by MOSS - a Japanese developer in possession of the rights to the franchise since 2005. Similar to the previous installments, the plot presents a great war between humans and Cranassian - an alien civilization that has attacked the Earth. The player has to face the invaders, assuming the role of a pilot. The game offers several characters to choose from, including a British or American male, as well as a Portuguese, German or a Romanian female. Each of the characters has a different personality and biography. Also, the player chooses from among three fighter planes (Japanese, French or American) differing both in statistics and weaponry. The story campaign comprises of a set of missions, during which the player fires at incoming enemies, drops bombs on ground targets and avoids enemy fire. The players have three fire modes at their disposal, allowing for continuous fire, shooting in bursts and launching rockets. Each of the cannons can be upgraded. Every level has their own setting and ends with a boss fight. What is new in Raiden V, is the Cheer System allowing another player to join the game at any moment.

A mobile arcade shooter featuring endless runner mechanics, distributed in a free-to-play system with not too obtrusive microtransactions. Shooty Skies was developed by the same team that was responsible for the surprisingly well-received Crossy Road. This time, the player takes control of a character in a flying machine – at the beginning, you’re a cat in a monoplane – and shoots down enemies (including arcade cabinets, giant mouths, huge beavers, computer monitors and such) approaching from the opposite direction as long as he can. Shooty Skies is discerned by its interesting controls. The plane fires automatically, but to move it, we need to swipe our finger. Releasing the finger launches a powerful rocket attack – useful when fighting more powerful opponents – which sadly exposes us to enemy fire, which adds certain tactical depth to this small arcade game. During our run, we encounter various upgrades and items spawning allied wingmen. Shooty Skies is also distinguished by its colorful visuals, build from huge voxels.

Nighthaw-X3000 is a dynamic shoot'em up game developed by the independent Polish studio N94 Games. The protagonists are skilled scientist Jason Frudnick and Fred, a mysterious creature he discovered. When the latter escapes the laboratory, Jason pursues him. He ends up in a cave, where he finds an advanced, battle-ready vehicle called Sophia-III. Blaster Master Zero features two game modes. The first one is a classic platform game utilizing a side view perspective; in this part, you have to avoid traps, overcome obstacles, and sometimes fight with enemies. However, Jason often leaves his vehicle. The perspective switches then to bird's eye view, and the protagonist has to battle opponents on foot. Both modes feature boss enemies, such as a mutant crab or a giant brain. The game features oldschool 8-bit visuals.

A dynamic, side-scrolling shooter created by Pyramid studio. Planet Darius has been invaded by Belsers – an alien army that entrenched itself in the oceans and seas of the whole world. To combat the threat, the planet's inhabitants have prepared a new lethal weapon, the so called Burst System. The gameplay of DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours focuses on eliminating hordes of enemies – aside from normal cannon fodder, the enemy ranks are sometimes reinforced by tough bosses. Every level contains various power-ups that increase the firepower of one of the nine available fighters, and influence the attained score. Additionally, a number of varied weapons has been left at our disposal, from rocket launchers through laser cannons and up to energy wave generators. Using the trademark Burst System, which has a lot more stopping power, is limited by a special gauge, filled as we take on subsequent enemies. The game, divided into chapters, contains the entire contents present in DARIUSBURST: Another Chronicle, supplemented by new additions in form of new modes, missions, and vehicles. Among the game modes we can find the story campaign, as well as a set of challenges, and the Chronicle Mode. The latter is a set of 3000 levels unlocked by the players all around the world.

AirAttack 2 does not feature any specific story as such, and the player assumes the role of a pilot who fights against the air forces of the Axis. The game is set in an exaggerated alternative vision of the Second World War, albeit some machines using technology that didn't exist back then were included nonetheless, as the creators were not particularly interested in recreating the realities of war with historical accuracy. The in-game mechanics were based on the classic, popular formula - the action is viewed from above and the player's task is to shoot the enemies coming in waves. What's more, the player will also encounter boss fights, collect valuable power-ups and avoid enemy attacks. The game offers five different fighter planes, which can be additionally upgraded as the game progresses. Different improvements can be employed, such as installation of lasers, flamethrowers, tail cannons, homing missiles or bomb bays.
