A space sandbox game by Payload Studios, set in the future, in which Earth's natural resources have been completely depleted. You play as a space adventurer, whose task is to look for resources on an alien planet. The main aspects of TerraTech are threefold. The first aspect is exploring varied environments and gathering minerals, which can be transported to Earth or processed.
TerraTech for PC is a game by indie team Payload Studio. The game is set in the far future, when Earth's natural resources have been completely depleted. You play as a space adventurer, whose task is to find resources on an alien planet.
There are three main aspects of the gameplay in TerraTech. The first one focuses on exploring varied environments and searching for minerals, which can be transported to Earth or processed. Another aspect is building vehicles, which become parts of your fleet. The resources required to build them can be extracted from other machines or just collected.
The controllable vehicles consist of several modules. Depending on the elements available at a given time, you can modify them as you see fit. You can create very sophisticated vehicles, from ground transport units, through battle tanks, to light planes. War machines turn out to be necessary, as the third aspect of TerraTech is fighting enemies and capturing their bases.
TerraTech for PC features colorful 3D visuals; although due to the relatively low-resolution textures the game looks rather decent.

For as much time as I'd like to continue to sink into this game, trying to master the controls that seem to be designed to fight you was a lesson in futility which I don't hope to repeat any time soon.

TerraTech is by no means bad, and there's a lot to like and have fun with in it. The car creation aspect is wonderfully creative, and it's a lot of fun building up the car (or weird shambling monstrosity) of your dreams.

At the core of TerraTech is an extensive mechanical construction kit that presents an interesting canvas for creative players. However, the Switch's significant UI shortcomings, a cumbersome console control scheme, and a limited-feeling campaign will ensure that only persistent players stick around long enough to find the fun.
