Although 1993's The 7th Guest doesn't live up to the fame of such 1990s horror games as Resident Evil or Alone in the Dark, it also proved to be an influential enough title for other developers to bring it back to the market in refreshed forms years later. After three decades, Vertigo Games has made two attempts to develop a remake with the help of Exkee studio - first, in 2023, it released The 7th Guest VR, and three years later it announced a modernized project, The 7th Guest Remake, being developed for "traditional" hardware platforms.

So Many Games: 3 / 5 by David Echevarría

Overall, The 7th Guest Remake doesn’t push the puzzle genre forward, and in that sense it sits fairly comfortably in familiar territory. What it does do is reframe the original experience into something more modern, more accessible, and easier to engage with today. It may not be a bold reinvention, but it is a solid, playable reinterpretation of a landmark moment in gaming history. If you enjoy puzzle games, it’s still an easy recommendation.
