FPP shooter designed for co-op mode. In The Anacrusis four players team up to fight off attacks of bloodthirsty aliens. The gameplay is supervised by a special system that adjusts it to the skills of its participants.
The Anacrusis is an FPS designed for co-op gameplay. Game was developed by independent studio Stray Bombay.
The Anacrusis takes us to the distant future, when mankind fulfilled its dream about space colonization. Expeditions sent to the farthest corners of the galaxy did not find any traces of alien life forms, so civilization could develop peacefully, falling into a growing complacency. The situation changed dramatically when the first contact with hostile aliens occurred. The unlucky ones, who found themselves in their way, had no choice but to fight for their lives.
In The Anacrusis we observe the action from first person perspective (FPP). During the game we fight off bigger and more powerful hordes of enemies. On our way there are both regular opponents, who attack in mass quantities, and much stronger than them bosses. We eliminate enemies, making use of an extensive, futuristic arsenal. Apart from various guns we have useful gadgets at our disposal, such as shield grenade which provides temporary protection or Respawner which allows to resurrect fallen allies. During the game we also gain various perks that give us additional advantage on the battlefield.
A special system (AI Driver) supervises the gameplay; its goal is to ensure the appropriate level of challenge regardless of the players' skills and to make each game look different. It analyzes our style of play and, based on the information obtained, places enemies on the map and disperses weapons, gadgets and first aid kits, as well as directs the actions of the bosses. What's more, if we play with people who have made less progress in the story than us, it makes sure that they do not encounter spoilers.
Although The Anacrusis allows you to play solo, the title spreads its wings in cooperative mode, where up to four people can play (thanks to the cross-platform feature - regardless of the platform you own).
The Anacrusis has colorful graphics kept in a style that brings to mind science fiction movies from the early second half of the 20th century.

Game Ratings for The Anacrusis Video Game.
Screen Rant: 3 / 5 by Ryan Keenum
To say that The Anacrusis is better with friends is an incredible understatement, as it’s less like a different experience and more like a completely different game. Everything just feels more cohesive with co-op. Teamwork and communication make objectives and combat more exciting, while death feels less like a chore. This is the type of game that is meant to be played one way and one way only, but when it’s that much better, there’s nothing really wrong with that, and The Anacrusis is well worth anyone's time if they can put together their own team to tackle it with.
IGN: 4 / 10 by Travis Northup
The Anacrusis is a co-op shooter with remarkably few surprises and surprisingly unremarkable gunplay.

For an early access game, we cant expect The Anacrusis to be perfect. The Jetsons themed retro-futuristic setting is brimming with potential, none of which is used effectively. The bland characters fit right in with the bland soundtrack and story. It feels as though the strength came from the theme and when it came to designing the rest of the game, everyone ran out of ideas. It's a swing and a miss, quite a shame when the potential was there but could not be realised.
