The first chapter of the epic cRPG series, The Elder Scrolls: Arena takes place in the huge fantasy world called Tamriel that is inhabited by 18 different races. The player moves in a fully 3D world observing the events from the first-person perspective. The scope of the land is incredible. We may visit over 400 towns and villages, as well as dungeons and labyrinths in which 2500 magical items are hidden.

The plot is completely non-linear, allowing us to choose our actions to our liking. There is a main theme, however, around which the action revolves. Our task is to save the Emperor imprisoned in a prison outside the dimensions. To do so, we need to gather all parts of an artifact called the Staff of Chaos which is a key to the above mentioned prison.

The construction of the game enables us to feel the freedom of choice in every aspect of our doing, starting with character creation, through career in various guilds, ending with solving quests. The game can be quickly completed by following the main storyline only, but it is impossible to perform all quests and check all possibilities out in a single playthrough. Technically, each playthrough is completely different.
