Release Date: August 30, 2016
A post-apocalyptic adventure game featuring a classic 2D side-view and old-school pixel art visuals. The action of the game is set in a world in which the human kind is almost gone because of an outbreak of a virus that transforms people into strange and dangerous beasts. You assume the role of a survivor traveling from town to town to look for fuel and other important resources.
The Final Station for PC, SWITCH and etc. is an independent game created by Do My Best Games studio. It combines elements of the simulator, shooter, and survival genres. It was published by the tinyBuild Games company, which has put out numerous indie productions – Punch Club, Party Hard, Fearless Fantasy, and more.
The action is set in a dying, post-apocalyptic world. Humanity is on the verge of extinction due to an outburst of a deadly virus that transforms people into bizarre and dangerous monsters craving for blood of the remaining living people. You take the role of one of the survivors traveling from town to town in a train.
The Final Station for PC, SWITCH and etc. is a two-dimensional survival game, compared by its creators to the Polish hit - This War of Mine. Gameplay is divided into several aspects – traveling in the train in order to find fuel and resources is the most fundamental one. During the journey you have to take care of your passengers, and maintain the locomotive in working conditions (you need to manage the tooling, keep an eye on the fuel level, etc.). The second aspect concerns exploration and fighting. From time to time, you will stop at different stations to look for supplies and survivors. In order to do this, you have to get off the safe train, and go on foot through different buildings, now inhabited by new, murderous dwellers. You face them by using all kinds of weapons (e.g. a shotgun), but it is necessary to be cautious, as you will be outnumbered most of the time. Apart from that, you have to decide whether to give shelter to the other survivors you meet, or close the door of your train and leave them behind for a certain death.

The Final Station review – next stop: post-apocalypse
From the very first trailer The Final Station looked like a lovechild of This War of Mine and the “old but gold” Transarctica. Sounds wonderful, but is it really?

Final Station is an unusal zombie apocalypse game inspired by This War of Mine. What makes it stand out from crowd is the fact that the main character travels around by train, which serves as a main base of operations in the game.

The Final Station review – next stop: post-apocalypse

PlayStation LifeStyle: 6 / 10 by Chandler Wood
The disparity between the repetitive majority and the engaging finale did cause me to like The Final Station after it was said and done, but it’s not enough to overlook the significant flaws along the journey. Ambiguity is supposed to provide a level of intrigue, making players want to look further and explore dark corners, being rewarded for the risks they take to discover more. Instead, The Final Station hands out breadcrumbs without promise of a full loaf until the very end. Repetition and simplicity hold back what could otherwise be a fascinating survival horror indie, and a personal tale of interest about the train conductor. It’s worth taking a ride on this train once if not to see the promise the narrative holds, but don’t expect to want to hop on board with the mechanics again when you reach the final station.
ZTGD: 7 / 10 by Justin Celani
The Final Station is an enjoyable romp for a one time through experience. It’s tense at times and has a unique idea for a gameplay loop, yet I do feel they could do more with it. If this is a foundation for perhaps a more elaborate sequel with more features and ideas, sign me up. As it stands, it’s still a fun take on the survival horror mold that worth checking out. It can start to wear out its welcome, but it doesn’t overstay.
Twinfinite: 4 / 5
The Final Station’s pairing of on-foot side-scrolling survival with time and resource management on board a train makes for an consistently fun, if not short experience. The tense moments that leave you questioning whether or not to open the next door and the intriguing story of hope in a post-apocalyptic world keep you engrossed right up until the underwhelming ending.
