The First Descendant is a sci-fi looter shooter, distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. The game was created by the Nexon company from South Korea.
The First Descendant takes us on a journey to a fictional universe, specifically to the continent of Ingris, over which hangs the specter of a mortal threat in the form of space invaders. During the game we play as the titular Descendants - heroes who represent the last hope of humanity in the fight against aggressors.
In The First Descendant we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The driving force of the game are missions that take us to various corners of the Ingris continent - from futuristic cities, through dense forests, to snow-capped mountain peaks. When carrying out missions we encounter numerous opponents, with whom we engage in dynamic battles. On our way, we deal with both the "cannon fodder" appearing in wholesale quantities, and huge bosses (including monsters and giant mechs).
On the battlefield, the key to success is the proper selection of weapons, skillful juggling of the abilities of the hero led into battle, as well as the use of various gadgets (like a grappling hook, which significantly increases our mobility). Cooperation with the other team members also plays an important role. As we progress, we acquire better equipment and unlock new skills, which directly translates into our combat potential.
The First Descendant gives us a wide range of characters that can be customized in appearance. They are diversified in terms of preferred weapons and combat skills.
At the start, there is 14 "standard" heroes available: Lepic, Ajax, Bunny, Viessa, Gley, Jayber, Sharen, Blair, Bunny, Freyna, Valby, Kyle, Esiemo, Enzo and Yujin. Additionally, the first five also has their "ultimate" versions.
The First Descendant allows for singleplayer fun, but the game truly shines in cooperative mode for up to four people.
The First Descendant offers crossplay functionality - it allows joint play for users of all hardware platforms on which the game was released.
The First Descendant runs based on Unreal Engine 5 technology.
