The Idolmaster Live For You! is a music and rhythm game developed by Bandai Namco. The game is a spin-off of the first installment of The Idolmaster series which launched in 2007 and had previously triumphed in Japanese arcade salons. The title was created primarily for its fans and people who are familiar with the series. The Idolmaster Live For You! abandons the strategic and managerial options of the original in favor of more traditional arcade game, where the emphasis has been placed on simple and accessible gameplay.

Story

During the game we play as an employee of a small artistic agency 765 Production, and the action of the game takes place around teenagers trying to become musical idols. One day, during one of the concerts, the head of the company dies in mysterious circumstances and the idol band's producer. With no other choice, we take on the role of a replacement for the dead co-workers and continue the work of the agency, responsible for organizing subsequent performances. All the heroines from the first installment appear in the game but the plot is unrelated to the original.

Mechanics

The Idolmaster Live For You! calls on us to organize and manage a series of concerts performed by the singers hired by 765 Production. Starting the game, we choose a song, as well as its performers. We can invite one, two or three artists to the stage. The game is divided into two modes. The first one enables us to direct the concert. We manage the cameras and select individual shots of the event, controlling the zoom and focus of each of the available lenses. The second mode is reminiscent of a classical arcade rhythm game. The devs have prepared a total of three levels of difficulty, controlling the number and speed at which icons symbolizing each button appear on the screen, which need to be pressed to the rhythm of the music.

Technical aspects

The Idolmaster Live For You! uses a slightly improved original engine, offering three-dimensional models made in cel-shading technique. In total, the game offers 72 songs, of which 32 are original compositions appearing in the series, and 42 are their remixes.
