The Last Hero of Nostalgaia

The Last Hero of Nostalgaia is a satirical action adventure game. It was developed by Canadian studio Over The Moon, the authors of The Fall and The Fall Part 2: Unbound.

Plot

The action takes place in the video game land known as Nostalgaia, which becomes a victim of the retro plague. Detailed 3D locations and characters are beginning to regress - becoming pixelated flat objects.

It seems that everything is doomed, and the lighting system that is losing quality will soon plunge reality into total darkness. Then a new hero arrives in this world, made up of only a few lines, who decides to save video game history and save the entire land.

The script of The Last Hero of Nostalgaia is heavily satirical, mocking the cliched solutions present in countless games. This is aided by the presence of a narrator who constantly insults us and our hero.

Game mechanics

The Last Hero of Nostalgaia is an action adventure game in which we observe the events from the camera located behind the hero's back. The game focuses on exploring the world, completing quests and, above all, fighting hordes of enemies with the use of a highly arcade combat system.

The key role in the game is played by the equipment system. Along with the progress in the game we gain better armor and weapons, which allows us to fight more effectively with the increasingly powerful enemies.

Game modes

Game offers single player mode and co-op multiplayer mode.

Technical aspects

It features unusual 3D graphics. Some of its elements are made in modern 3D, while others have simplified models or are 2D sprites full of pixels. What is more, many of the objects and characters switch between these states depending on our actions.
