Tiny Pasture is a small indie sim that only takes up a small portion of the screen (similar to Ropuka's Idle Island, Rusty's Retirement or My Little Life). It allows us to play it easily during breaks from other activities. The game was developed by a small studio CaveLuquid, which has in its portfolio a stylistically related project Garlic Builder.

Gameplay

  • Relaxing Background Experience: Players appreciate the game's ability to run in the background while they work or engage in other activities, serving as a pleasant distraction.
  • Collecting and Customization: There are many animals to collect, and players can name them, customize their pastures, and even keep juvenile animals if they prefer. The satisfaction of unlocking new creatures and variants is frequently mentioned.
  • Smooth Performance: Many users report that the game runs smoothly without bugs or crashes, enhancing the overall experience.
  • Idle Gameplay: The game is designed to be semi-idle, allowing players to engage with it at their own pace without feeling pressured.

The main cons of the game

  • Maintenance Requirements: Players noted that the game requires frequent interaction to prevent animals from getting sick, which contradicts its idle game label. This can be frustrating for those hoping for a more passive experience.
  • Lack of Depth: Some users feel the game is too simplistic and lacks a deeper gameplay experience, leading to boredom after a while.
  • High Costs for Progression: The costs to unlock additional pasture slots and high-tier animals can be excessively high, leading to a grind that some players find tedious.
  • Breeding Mechanics: Players expressed dissatisfaction with the breeding system, which permanently removes parent animals in exchange for offspring, leading to emotional attachment issues.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • More Customization Options: Users would like to see more decorative items and the ability to create a more natural environment for the animals.
  • Quality of Life Improvements: Suggestions include adding an auto-feeder option, a warning system for breeding, and the ability to manage multiple pastures more effectively without needing to switch back and forth.
  • Offline Progression: Players desire a system that allows for passive income or progress even when the game is not actively being played.
  • Expanded Animal Variety: Many players are looking for additional animal types, especially fantasy or mythical creatures, to enhance the collecting aspect of the game.

Summary

  • In summary, while Tiny Pasture is praised for its charm and cuteness, it struggles with maintenance demands and a lack of depth, leading to a desire for more features and improvements from its player base.
