Toby: The Secret Mine takes the player on a journey to a fantastic world. The family village of the title character was attacked by mysterious invaders who kidnapped most of its inhabitants. Two daredevils chased the misfortunes, but just like them they quickly lost their lives without any news. The last hope in you, who in search of friends found himself in a gloomy forest hiding dark secrets.
In Toby: The Secret Mine action we observe from the side. Due to the fact that the direct source of inspiration for the developer was the best-selling Limbo, the game is based on a very similar scheme. The game therefore consists in traversing successive locations (among 21 levels there are both the above-mentioned forest, gloomy caves or even the title mine), jumping from platform to platform, avoiding numerous traps set by adversaries and solving more or less complex environmental riddles (based on manipulation of environmental elements) and logical ones.
Just like the work of the PlayDead team, Toby: The Secret Mine is characterized by a subdued, two-dimensional graphic design. Nevertheless, the visual sphere of the production described here, although still dark, can boast a richer colour scheme. The whole is complemented by an atmospheric soundtrack.
