Plot

The story of Never Alone is based on beliefs of Inuit’s. We play as a small girl from Inupiaq tribe, who travels through snow-covered lands in company of a white fox. She must set on a dangerous journey to save her people and stop the arrival of the eternal blizzard. The story campaign is divided into eight chapters, during which we encounter many beings from Inuit’s myths, e.g. Sky People, Rolling Heads and Blizzard Man. To stay true to local traditions, Upper One Game’s team consulted members of tribal elderly, including descendants of Inuit, who specialized in telling such stories.

[A]s one Inupiat member put it, this isn't a story about a hero, just someone honoring her commitment to her community and way of life. Addressing that idea through a largely unfamiliar fiction is a refreshing way to remind us to be thankful for what we have.

Never Alone is bursting with promise and charm, but is savagely let down by technical flaws and maddening design decisions. Not even the cutest fox in gaming can save it.
