TOCA 2 Touring Cars
Release Date: November 13, 1999
The continuation of the enthusiastically received racing game from the Codemasters company. In the game we are once again cast into the role of a driver, who is participating in the racing competitions with some of the most renowned TOCA competitors. The rivalry takes place on closed tracks, many of them are licensed circuits from the first installment of the series, however, there are also 8 new, fictional facilities.
TOCA 2 Touring Cars Description
A year and a half after the release of TOCA Touring Cars, which was very well received by players and critics, Codemasters prepared its continuation. It contains an updated list of cars and drivers and a number of changes that have significantly enriched the gameplay. The game also takes into account the regulations of the TOCA series, which were modified in 1998.
T2TC once again takes players into the world of car racing, where the best drivers compete fiercely on closed circuits. Contrary to its name, the touring car class has little to do with series-produced cars. Admittedly, the players compete by sitting behind the wheel of such cars as: However, Honda Accord, Audi A4, Vauxhall Vectra, Volvo S40, Ford Mondeo, Nissan Primera, Peugeot 406 and Renault Laguna are vehicles that have little in common with series production. The latest Porsche, Ferrari or Lamborghini models can only dream about the performance of some of them.
Just as impressive as the speed is the list of players you have to face on the track. James Thompson, Peter Kox, Yvan Muller, John Bintcliffe, John Cleland, Derek Warwick, Rickard Rydell, Gianni Morbidelli, Will Hoy, Craig Baird, David Leslie, Anthony Reid, Tim Harvey, Paul Radisich, Alain Menu, Jason Plato are mostly the best TOCA players. Nigel Mansell's name also appears in the game, but it is quite cleverly hidden, suggesting that the T2TC developers failed to come to an agreement with the former Formula One World Champion.
TOCA 2 Touring Cars takes place on tracks, half of which are known for the first part of the series. At the same time, eight new, fictitious objects were also introduced, located e.g. on a Scottish lake or in the centre of one of the American cities.
In single player mode there are several gameplay options. The complete season includes 24 races. However, you can also take part in a single start or time trial.
Just like the original, the game is characterized by a very high level of realism. The physics of driving takes into account a number of factors, including speed, grip and overloading. The basic parameters of cars can be modified to different degrees, adjusting them to your preferences. The system of vehicle damage has also improved significantly.
The TOCA 2 Touring Cars graphics represent a qualitative leap forward compared to the first installment of the series. The developers of the game first of all improved the textures and added more details. Thanks to this, among other things, the windscreens in cars have become more transparent, drivers in the interiors are not worried, you can also see drops of rain falling on the track or flying blades of grass when one of the cars goes beyond the asphalt. In addition, players can change the appearance of their vehicles by importing hand-made textures in a graphics program.
In addition to single-player mode, there is a multiplayer option in the game. A maximum of four players using a split screen or computers connected via LAN/Internet can take part.

Race Driver / GRID Series
The cult series of video games dedicated to the theme of car racing. It was created and is still being developed by the British company Codemasters Software. To date, eleven major installments of the series have been released, which has changed its title and formula a couple of times during its long history. Initially, it became famous for its high level of realism (unattainable, for example, for the competitive Gran Turismo), later its hallmark became a huge variety of available routes, vehicles and motorsport disciplines (from all forms of traditional rivalry on asphalt, through drifting, to rallying), as well as an advanced destruction model. It currently stands out from the competition with its aggressive artificial intelligence and exciting, unpredictable races.
