Tokyo Tattoo Girls is an unusual strategy game developed by Japanese studio Sushi Typhoon Games. It was published on PC and PSV by NIS America.
As the title suggests, Tokyo Tattoo Girls for PC and PSV takes place in the capital city of Japan. The city has been isolated from the outside world. In order to bring law and order to its streets, the city was split into 23 zones. Specific zones are controlled by groups known as Kumi. Together, the groups are known as the Union. It is said that it is possible to escape this unusual prison by defeating all of the Kumi.
In Tokyo Tattoo Girls the player controls teenage girls who are trying to escape from Tokyo. The female protagonists have various powerful abilities provided to them by the titular tattoos. The key aspect of the gameplay is battles with enemies during which it is important to use various powers of the girls. The progress in conquering the city is presented on a tactical map where the influence zones of various groups are marked. The story is presented by using animated cutscenes.
Tokyo Tattoo Girls features nice, two-dimensional manga-like graphics. What’s interesting, when creating tattoos, the developers took inspiration from traditional Japanese patterns and from the work of Koji Tanaki.
Despite the cartoonish visuals, the title was developed for mature audience – it features violence and some nudity.
